Directions to MAGAZINE BEACH in Cambridge

From Route 128: Take the Mass Pike (Rte 90) heading East until the Allston/Brighton/Cambridge tolls. Take the left-hand tolls here ($.50) and stay to the right upon exiting them. This will lead you to Cambridge.

At this point you should experience about 10 minutes of traffic as you wait to approach the lights that are next to the Double Tree Hotel. Upon reaching these lights, cross over Storrow Drive and take the bridge straight over the Charles River. Immediately after crossing the bridge, take a right onto Memorial Drive.

Go straight for about a ½ mile, staying in the left lane. You will pass the Polaroid Building, a Strawberries, a Bisuteki Steak House, and the Shell Station (with the giant illuminated neon sign in front) on your left. Take a left here onto Magazine Street and park in the MDC parking lot to the right.

From Cambridge: Travel down Memorial Drive heading West until you pass the Hyatt Regency Hotel at the lights. After passing the hotel, you will take the brick overpass (with the newly built boathouse on the left).

Upon coming down from the overpass, the Shell Station (with the giant illuminated neon sign in front) will appear on your right. Take a right here onto Magazine Street and park in the MDC parking lot to the right.

From Boston: Travel down Commonwealth Avenue, heading West towards Boston University. After passing the BU Chapel and University Road, you will take a right at the lights onto the Route 3 bridge. This crosses over the Charles River and brings you to the Memorial Drive rotary (which intersects with Brookline Street).

Go ¾ of the way around the rotary (equivalent to taking a left) and head West down Memorial Drive for about 100 yards. Here you will see the Shell Station (with the giant illuminated neon sign in front) on your right. Take a right here onto Magazine Street and park in the MDC parking lot to the right.

The field is immediately across the street from the MDC lot. You can take the footbridge to get there, or you can live dangerously and try and cross Memorial Drive.

Directions to OLD COLD SPRINGS FIELD in Newton

From Route 128: Take Route 16 East from Route 128. At the 1st set of traffic lights, take a right onto Beacon Street. Follow Beacon for about 3 miles or so. When you come to Newton Four Corners, there will be a Naked Fish on the right and a Walgreen’s on the left. Take a right here onto Walnut Street at the Mobil Station.

Your 4th or 5th right will be Duncklee Street. Take this right and go to the end, where Duncklee makes a sharp bend to the right. At this point, you will see a gateway in front of you, drive on through and park at the field.

If the entrance is chained closed, find a parking spot among the other cars and walk up the driveway through the gate.

From Route 9: Take Route 9 East from Route 128. Follow about 2 miles or so. At an intersection, you will find a Stop & Shop to the right. There will be gas station and a Dunkin’ Donuts ahead on the right. Continue straight ahead for 400-500 yards, until you reach an inconspicuous exit to Centre Street on the right.

The exit will be a sharp right. At the end of the exit “ramp”, take another sharp right onto Centre Street. At the next set of lights, take a left onto Maple Street and follow Maple through another set of lights.

You want to take your second or third left onto Duncklee Street. Follow to the end, where Duncklee makes a sharp bend to the right. At this point, you will see a gateway in front of you, drive on through and park at the field.

If the entrance is chained closed, find a parking spot among the other cars and walk up the driveway through the gate.
